Owner & Operator

zane taylor

I’m Zane Taylor, owner of Paraplu Risk Management, and I live in Pella, Iowa with my wife, Kaitlin, and our four kids—Owen, Lola, Sadie, and Gabbie. Family has always been at the center of everything I do, and it plays a big role in how I think about risk, stability, and long-term planning.

I grew up in Kirksville, Missouri and followed closely in my dad’s footsteps by going straight into the crop insurance business after college. I graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, where I also had the opportunity to play baseball—an experience that shaped how I approach my work today: disciplined preparation, attention to detail, and showing up consistently when it matters.

I’ve spent nearly 20 years in the crop insurance industry, working directly with farmers through a wide range of market cycles, policy changes, and challenging growing seasons. Over time, I’ve learned that crop insurance isn’t just about picking a policy—it’s about understanding the operation behind it. My focus is on building smart, intentional strategies that align with a farmer’s goals, manage volatility, and help create more dependable income year after year.

In addition to working with producers, I also partner with crop insurance agents and agencies through Paraplu’s consulting services, helping them grow intentionally, stay relevant, and strengthen relationships with their clients.

I started Paraplu Risk Management to offer a more thoughtful, transparent approach to agricultural risk management—one built on experience, trust, and a long-term mindset. My goal is simple: help farmers and agencies make confident decisions and know they have a plan that truly fits.
